The Perfect End to the Book

I really enjoyed reading Vision in Silver. I’m almost sad that I had to finish it, but I’m not because I loved the ending. Most books that have more books in the series end with a huge cliff hanger. I absolutely hate that because I get too involved and I want to know more. For example, I want to know if they ever figure out that Leo, Elayne’s brother, killed her and why he killed her. I’m glad that he basically got justice for his murder however. “Leo Borden was found in the water near the Toland docks yesterday. His throat had been cut.” (Page 485). It’s only fitting that his death included a knife since he used a knife to kill his own sister.                 I also enjoyed that we go to read a little bit about Elayne’s life. At first, she’s all happy with Nicholas Scratch. I’m glad that she finally realized that he...

Tess the Harvester

The subplots in Vision in Silver make the book so much more interesting. I’m actually beginning to enjoy reading it. It’s still a little hard to figure out who everyone is and how they’re related, but after a few minutes I’m able to remember. I’m very excited that we were able to learn more about Tess. The whole book she’s been very guarded and not talked about much personally. I’m glad that Bishop has been slowly revealing things about her to keep the mystery alive. At first, we only knew that she was a harvester, but we had no clue what a harvester was. As we kept reading, we found that she was one of the deadliest terra indigene and that her hair has something to do with it. This last section has been the most interesting. We actually get to “see” her powers at work and fully understand what she does. “A direct look from her -eyes meeting eyes- would kill her prey, but even looking at her when she was in her true form would damage flesh.” (Page 381). Tess’s powers almost rem...

Who is cs821?

Vision in Silver is slowly getting more and more interesting. There are still some parts that can be a little confusing sometimes, but I think that the book just hasn’t fully told us about them yet. Cs 821 is one of the many mysteries still. She seems to want to only draw but her old captives wouldn’t let her. She’s afraid of the consequences but doesn’t understand that there won’t be any since she was rescued. One part of her being a mystery is when Jackson Wolfgard decided “he would send a message to Simon Wolfgard, asking if the sweet blood could reveal visions and prophecies in other ways besides cutting their skin.” (Page 303). So far, all of the blood prophets always have to cut to see their visions. Cs 821 seems to be different. She seems to be able to draw what could be visions. She also is more interested in drawing than cutting. Maybe some blood prophets can get visions without havin...

Vision in Silver

For being the third book in the series, I’m really enjoying Vision in Silver. At first, it was a bit confusing to understand fully what or who everyone was, but Anne Bishop did a good job of making sure that you know enough to be able to read the book. I’m very intrigued by Meg. She knows that she can only be cut 1,000 times before she dies, and yet she cuts herself without feeling the need for a prophecy just to see what would happen. I can almost relate to her in a way too. She needs certain things to remain constant or she freaks out. “You can’t change the constant things!” (Page 42). That’s pretty close to how people have OCD. I have light OCD where some things in like my room can’t be moved unless if I move it. Even though it’s not a big deal, it makes my insides feel all funny and it’s hard to concentrate on anything until that thing is put back where it belongs. Meg’s issues with the...

And That's The End

I’m very happy to be done with The Heroin Diaries. It was a good book for being an auto-biography, but as I’ve said before, they don’t interest me very much. I did like that it showed the truth behind the fame in the 80’s and even sometimes now in the 2000’s. Nikki said throughout the book, he didn’t like the fame as much as he thought he wanted it. Sure, he enjoyed the money, the drugs, and the girls, but he wasn’t able to do what he wanted to do. I think that’s what also started with the drugs. If he didn’t become famous, there’s a good chance that he wouldn’t have become as bad of a druggie that he was. He could’ve made Nona and Tom proud like he always wanted to do. “I hope she can’t see me now ‘cause who I turned out to be would break her heart.” (Page 364).                 I was surprised to read so much detail...

Heroin Diaries Post Two

Getting farther in this book, it gets easier to read. Most of his diary entries don’t sound exactly the same as it did in the beginning. They all sounded the same because when he was high, he did basically the same thing every time. The way he describes his addiction can make you feel like you’re going through it yourself. For never taking drugs in my life, it makes me not want to take drugs even more. The feeling of knowing what he’s going through is the same when he describes what happened going through his withdrawal.                 I like the fact that he decided to try to quit heroin before they went on tour. I would think that the way he wanted to do it would be harder though. “I’m gonna go to the clinic in Burbank tomorrow and register for a30-day program but I’m only gonna do it for three or four days then j...

The Heroin Diaries

I tend to not read books like The Heroin Diaries. I prefer to read books that are more fiction. I find it hard to read autobiographies. They don’t paint a picture in my head and in return I can’t remember what I just read. With The Heroin Diaries, it’s just interesting enough that I can stand to read it. It does take me longer, but Nikki Sixx was smart to journal everything in his drug abuse stage of life. Most people would rather pretend that the bad time in their life didn’t happen. He embraces it and helps with basically telling people why they shouldn’t do drugs. I really like that when something doesn’t make complete sense, either he or someone who knew him back then will help clarify. Even if it’s something as little as not knowing the whole story.                 One part that really stuck out at me was when h...
